Stairs Railing

The hand rail for the stairway was put in this week. It received two coats of white paint. Next two panels of frosted plexiglass will be put in.

Tile update

I spent 12 hours tiling on Sunday. The walls are almost finished!

AC Unit and Water Heater

Here is one of the two split system AC units we had installed and the propane hot water heater.

Front Door

We finally have a door!
It needs to have a coat of clear varnish, but it works great. It has a very slick hidden closing mechanism, which allows it to close by itself or when pushed all the way open, to stay in place.

Grohe Products

A box of goodies from Grohe Japan arrived!

Interior Doors

The company which is building our interior doors arrived to test fit all of the doors. They spent most of a day adjusting the doors and fitting the sliders and hardware. They then took the doors back to their workshop for painting and to install the handles.

 These little guys ride along the top of the door and fit into the slider bar.

Tile Details

I've been tiling nonstop. The end is getting close for the work on the walls. But there are many fiddly bits ahead. Including these complicated 45 degree joints.

Working on the bottoms of the walls is also challenging.

The shampoo niche is getting closer to being finished.

Yoko Painting

Yoko has been painting every day for two weeks.

She was getting tired of only white paint. So she was very happy when her Farrow and Ball paint arrived.

 

There is a can of grey paint for our bedroom wall and a greenish blue paint for one of Motoki's walls.

Water System

Exterior plumbing work to connect the house to the septic system.

Kitchen Island

Speakers and Kitchen

I installed a pair of Yamaha in wall speakers on either side of our main AC unit.

Our Kitchen arrived.
It will get assembled and put into place over the next few days...

Septic System

Some heavy equipment arrived to put in our septic system.

First they dug a hole.

 

This tank gets buried in the ground.

Tiling Work

Tiling work is progressing. It's a big job.

Scaffold Comes Down

The big scaffolding around the exterior finally comes down.
The house looks so much better without it.

Tiling begins

We had a professional tiler come to show us how it's done. It was very helpful to learn about the tools and materials.

We were able to finish one wall of the bathroom. We're very pleased with the tiles and the design.

Yoko's mother dropped by to bring dusty workers coffee and sweets!
